The small business community drives our economy and on April 9th, the SBAC headed to Springfield with business owners and advocates. Our non-partisan, policy-driven message was heard by policymakers from both sides of the aisle.

We always have a robust agenda, and among other things, focused on the following legislative initiatives:

  • Job Creation Tax Credit: Reinstatement of $2,500 tax credits for small businesses (50 or less employees) that hire net new employees. These tax credits can support businesses working to create jobs despite difficult economic headwinds.
  • Government Contracting: Making government contracts more readily available to small businesses through increased transparency.

Both of these legislation efforts have bi-partisan support!

We met with Governor Pritzker and legislators from both parties. Our time in Springfield was an empowering reminder that our voices matter. We know our presence and energy conveyed this message: the small business community is engaged and looking for support from their elected officials.

So how can you get more involved?

1. Tap into our advocacy efforts: Join an SBAC policy committee meeting, engage in our action calls and consider participating in a Springfield visit. Check out some FB pictures here of our efforts in Springfield. https://www.facebook.com/SmallBusinessAdvocacyCouncil/posts/pfbid02wazwJuPmJPVVq5bDS8HhBvXQL4oCwk2TRS5gaobCuNTZHxrqL85xPYT7MbPW67PTl

2. Start with conversations
: Build relationships within our community and help fuel the SBAC’s advocacy efforts. You can’t get much closer to the small business community than through an event. The SBAC has Brewing Success on May 1st. We hope to see you there.

Thank you for all you do to support the small business community!
